Rinse or blow dust off first, then wash with lukewarm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft microfibre cloth. Blot dry rather than rub. Dust acts like sandpaper, so never dry-wipe a dusty surface.
Glass cleaners with ammonia or alcohol, acetone, thinners and abrasive creams all attack acrylic, causing permanent clouding and tiny cracks called crazing. Paper towels leave micro-scratches. If the label says ammonia, keep it away from plexiglass.
Fine scratches polish out with a dedicated acrylic polish or a plastic-safe compound applied with a soft cloth in circular motions. Deeper scratches need wet sanding through fine grades and a machine polish, a service any good fabricator offers.
Acrylic builds static that attracts dust. An anti-static acrylic cleaner leaves a film that keeps displays dust-free far longer, worth using on retail units and awards.
Soap, water and microfibre are all acrylic ever needs. Everything stronger belongs to glass, not plexiglass.
